I love photographing weddings and portraits. But I must admit, my love for food comes first. So I thought why not come up with the section the Food I love in my blog. While I was still thinking, I had a chat with a good friend and a very creative chef, Madhup Sinha. I’ve known Madhup for quiet a few year, and have always loved his creativity. You can see his passion when he comes up with great ideas and puts them into action. I did a photo session with him and loved it so much, that we decided we will do it more often. Madhup made some Jalebis and Idlis on that day. You would say, what’s so creative about it. And I would say, If the Jalebi is flavoured with Tamarind, Passion fruit and Citrus fruits, it is creative. And if the idlis are stuffed with lamb and chorizo, glazed with tamarind and coriander chutney, it is very creative. And not only creative, they were great to taste also.
For those of you who don’t know what jalebi or idli is, Jalebi is a spiral or pretzel shaped, deep fried batter, sweetened with sugar syrup. What a stupid definition, here is what wikipedia says : ‘It is made by deep frying batter in pretzel or circular shape, which are then soaked in sugar syrup. They are served warm or cold and the sugar syrup can also be flavoured with rose water, lime juice etc.’ I was close, apart from serving bit. And Idlis are the steamed cakes made of fermented batter of rice and lentils, eaten mostly in South of India.
Here are some of the pictures from the day. Don’t ask me for recipes, I don’t have them!!!
